These are all good ideas and I think some of them are already in the program such as the not having to reencode part and the lower bitrate option is half there. Basically I would like to add all these features but my time is very precious. A few of the smaller ones might be added shortly. The rest I would have to be paid to do. Of course you can always try with http://www.rastersoft.com and see what they might do.

"audio in background": Click on the menu options buttons. There is a spot to add an audio file for the menu background.

"a way to not have to reencode dvd compliant videos": When you add a video, under the advanced options -> Misc tab, there is a checkbox "this file is already a DVD/xCD-suitable MPEG-PS file".

"low video/audio bitrate settings for example like 800kbps and 64 kbp": You can currently set the video to 800 but at the moment the lowest the audio can be set is 128. When you add a video, under the advanced options -> General tab, the Video and Audio rate.
